Instagram Notifications for Slack & Discord — Follow Bot

Instagram Notifications for Slack & Discord

Find out when any public Instagram account posts, without checking Instagram yourself.

Instagram was built for scrolling on your phone, not for team workflows. There is no way to send an Instagram post notification to a Slack channel or a Discord server. So teams end up checking accounts manually, tabbing over to Instagram throughout the day, or hoping somebody remembers to look. Posts slip by. Responses come late.

Follow Bot watches public Instagram accounts for you and sends notifications straight to your team chat. You pick the accounts and pick the channel. When something new goes up, your team sees it in Slack, Discord, Telegram, or Microsoft Teams.

How it works

  1. Install Follow Bot in your Slack workspace, Discord server, Telegram group, or Microsoft Teams channel. Takes about two minutes. No API keys or developer accounts needed.
  2. Follow any public Instagram account with a single command. In Discord, type /follow instagram nike. In Slack, use /follow and pick Instagram from the menu. The bot confirms the account exists and starts watching it.
  3. Get notified when they post. Follow Bot checks for new posts automatically. When the account publishes something, your channel gets a notification with the image, caption, and a link to the post on Instagram.

What you get

Each notification includes:

Slack shows these as attachment cards. Discord renders them as embeds with colored borders and the Instagram logo. Telegram sends the image as a photo message with the caption underneath. Teams uses Adaptive Cards.

Why not just use Instagram's own notifications?

Instagram notifications were made for individual users on their personal phones. They don't work well for teams.

They go to one person. If your marketing team needs to see a competitor's post, every member has to follow the account individually and hope they spot the push notification in a pile of others.

You can't route them. There is no way to send an Instagram notification to a specific Slack channel or Discord server. You can't sort accounts into channels by topic, client, or team.

They disappear. Push notifications are gone once you dismiss them. With Follow Bot, notifications stay in your chat history. You can scroll back, search, and find old posts.

They only cover Instagram. If you also watch YouTube, X, or BlueSky, those need separate setups. Follow Bot handles all of them from one place.

Slack Discord Telegram Microsoft Teams

Follow Bot works the same way on all four. The notifications look different on each platform because they use each app's native formatting: embeds in Discord, Block Kit in Slack, photo messages in Telegram, Adaptive Cards in Teams.

Frequently asked questions

Can I monitor private Instagram accounts?
No. Follow Bot only works with public accounts. If an account is private, Instagram doesn't make its posts available to outside tools. The bot will let you know if you try to follow a private account.

How often does it check for new posts?
Accounts are checked on a recurring schedule. Most new posts show up in your channel within minutes of being published.

Does it work with Instagram Reels and Stories?
It monitors standard posts (photos and carousels). Reels that appear on a profile's main grid are picked up too. Stories are ephemeral and aren't available through the same method, so they are not monitored.

Can multiple channels follow the same account?
Yes. You can follow the same account in as many channels as you want, and each one gets its own copy of the notification.

What happens if I remove Follow Bot from my workspace?
Your subscription is cancelled automatically. No accounts are monitored after the bot is removed, and you won't be charged going forward.

Also monitors

Follow Bot also tracks BlueSky, Twitch, Reddit, YouTube, and X. Same bot, same commands. You don't need a separate tool for each platform.
